Crunch and Sip
Cunderdin DHS is a certified Crunch and Sip School. This means that each day children are provided with a short, in class break in the afternoons where children eat a piece of fruit or a salad vegetable and are able to sip water throughout the day
This programme is endorsed by the Department of Health, Diabetes WA, the Cancer Council, and Go for 2&5. Research has shown that drinking water and eating fruit and vegetables is not only essential to good health but also helps children to concentrate throughout the school day. We ask our Primary school parents and guardians to supply a suitable snack and a water bottle for our daily Crunch and Sip breaks. Please note that the break will be conducted during class time and the fruit or vegetable that you provide will need to be as mess free as possible. For example, please cut up juicy fruits such as oranges and melons so they are ready to eat.
We relaunched our Crunch and Sip Policy in Week 6 of Term One with some great activities. The Year 5/6 class created wonderful, eye-catching posters to promote our launch week. Then on Thursday all of the Primary classes participated in a Funny Fruit and Vege Face Competition. Here are some photos of the day’s events.

We would also like to say a BIG THANK YOU to the Cunderdin IGA who donated all the glorious fruit and vege used on the day.
